Rocky Mountain Institute
1739 Snowmass Creek Road, Snowmass, CO.

SoL Energy installed a state-of-the-art hybrid system for Amory and Judy Lovins at their super efficient home in Old Snowmass, CO, where they also host Amory's Office at Rocky Mountain Institute. RMI is internationally renowned as an independent, entrepreneurial, nonprofit think-and-do tank that creates abundance by design. The hybrid system combines off-grid Sunny Island inverters plus grid-tied inverters to power the building whether the grid is operating or not, while maximizing power exports to displace coal-fired generation on the grid. The building therefore uses 100% solar power in the daytime and 100% additional purchased wind power at night, while saving as much carbon as possible and making the building resilient even if the grid fails.
